Paul is a Senior Heritage Consultant with over 20 years’ experience in the heritage sector. He began his career in field archaeology, working on a wide variety of sites across southern England and Wales, and has since built a strong professional portfolio spanning both archaeological and built heritage.
Since joining AB Heritage more than six years ago, Paul has steadily progressed to the level of Senior Heritage Consultant, delivering heritage planning services across the southern half of the UK. Based in the South West, his project work ranges from Cornwall and Devon, through Somerset and Bristol, up the M5 corridor into the West Midlands and South Wales. His experience includes a broad mix of urban and rural sites – from major city centre redevelopments to greenfield housing schemes and infrastructure projects.
Paul has developed particular expertise in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter, where he has delivered numerous heritage assessments and Historic Building Recording surveys over recent years, providing valuable heritage advice to help clients navigate local planning requirements. Through this work, he has built up a detailed understanding of the area’s archaeology, built fabric, and industrial legacy, and continues to support sensitive and informed development in this nationally significant historic environment.
Paul has a longstanding interest in landscape history and the relationship between natural topography and historic land use, which informs his approach to site interpretation and heritage assessment.
Outside of work, Paul is a keen amateur runner and enjoys following football and live music.
