Sarah Delivers Heritage CPD for Planners
Principal Heritage Consultant, Sarah Bradley was requested by NTR Planners to deliver a lunchtime CPD session to staff via an MS teams session.
The team at NTR were interested to understand more about how heritage consultants reach conclusions around the NPPF’s requirement for the determination of level of harm (substantial/less than substantial harm) to heritage assets. Sarah was able to explain, using relevant case studies, that in the first instance, it is important to fully understand the significance of heritage assets. The next stage in the process is to apply an assessment of the impacts of proposed developments on those assets, creating opportunities for mitigation by design, leading to the assessment of the final likely level of harm to heritage assets.
Sarah said, “It was a pleasure to meet with the NTR planners and provide some clarity around the assessment processes we work to. Heritage Consultants employ their own professional judgement for each proposed development, within guidelines set by the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists (CIfA), and National Heritage Agencies like Historic England. AB Heritage is a Registered Organisation with CIfA.”
NTR Planning is an RTPI Award winning independent firm of planning consultants with offices in London and Bristol. Their planning consultants undertake work throughout the UK and Ireland. Sarah Knight from NTR thanked Sarah adding that their planners found the CPD to be very interesting and covered the topics requested which were relevant to the team’s day to day work.
