Cultural Heritage Environmental Statement
Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) are often required for more complex and large schemes. As part of this form of work a Cultural Heritage Environmental Statement (ES) may be deemed necessary, where management of the Historic Environment forms an important part of understanding and managing change to the wider environment.
AB Heritage are experts in the production of Cultural Heritage ES, having been part of the project team on many EIA schemes.
Taking a phased approach to the assessment and evaluation of heritage and archaeology, we work with our clients from early site identification and screening, through scoping (whereby the limits and scope of the assessment is determined), baseline study (against which changes / impacts will be measured), and into impact assessment and establishment of mitigation measures.
Our expertise allows for a detailed understanding of the known and potential impacts of a scheme upon the heritage and archaeology resource.
AB Heritage uses clear, accurate and quantifiable evaluation criteria to assess potential impacts against the significance and importance of the heritage assets being affected.
Production of a Cultural Heritage ES can involve undertaking various products we supply, including Heritage Statements, Archaeology Desk Based Assessment, Historic Building Recording Surveys, and on-site archaeological works.
It is through these careful and phased measures that AB Heritage can effectively help our clients reduce the magnitude of adverse impacts associated with development upon the Historic Environment.
AB Heritage has many years’ experience working with clients to achieve the best possible outcome. By providing an invaluable early understanding of what is required we allow development to be planned in the most economically and environmentally viable way possible in the long run.
"I was very impressed by AB Heritage's work. As an EIA coordinator and editor they made my job a lot easier"
