Archaeological & Heritage Assessment
AB Heritage specialises in early research of a site’s historic development.

We carry out a wide range of historic research, including:
- Assessment of historic maps and aerial photographs
- Examination of historic documentary information from a wide range of sources, including record offices and local libraries
- Review of grey literature from previous archaeological research that may have been undertaken within the vicinity of a site
- Analysis of available archaeological deposit models and previous geo-technical investigations
- Site-walkovers to gain a greater awareness of potential issues on the ground
- Consultation with local authority archaeologists and conservation officers.

These works feed into the production of a number of desk-based reports and impact assessments, including:
- Initial Site Heritage Appraisals;
- Heritage Statements;
- Archaeological and Built Heritage Desk-Based Assessments;
- Historic Landscape Characterisation Surveys;
- Conservation Management Plans;
- Cultural Heritage Environmental Statements for EIA;
- Scheduled Monument, Listed Building and Conservation Area Consent applications;
- ASIDOHL2 reports; and
- Historic Building Records.
It is through these assessment works that we can guide our clients through the complexities of understanding and managing the cultural heritage risk they may be facing on their schemes.
