AB Heritage-0003_MARKSector: Heritage Assessment

Mark is a recent graduate in Historic Building Conservation. He has a background in commercial surveying, working for a large property developer and a private healthcare company, both in Newcastle. He chose to transform a longstanding interest in heritage into a professional career.

Mark has attended and led many Heritage Camps where volunteers aged 16-25 lived in residence for a week to help clean and repair cathedrals and churches. Following several years in commercial property, Mark then embarked on an MA at the University of York.

Before joining AB Heritage in 2017, Mark undertook a series of work experience and internship positions; such as at Durham University Estates Department for whom he undertook an Historic Building Appraisal. At Tyne and Wear Building Preservation Trust, he prepared and submitted a Heritage Lottery Fund application. He also shadowed a prominent Historic Building Consultant operating in the North East and completed a one-week residential Building Conservation Summer School in Stirling.

Mark is excited to have joined AB Heritage and will primarily be working on Historic Environment Desk-based Assessments and Heritage Statements. He will continue to accrue valuable experience through working on projects and with the knowledgeable team at AB Heritage.

Mark is from Northumberland and currently lives with his wife in Newcastle. He is a keen handball player (recently playing for Ireland) and Treasurer of Newcastle Vikings Handball Club.
